A returning client came to us with an unusual request: can we make a Murphy door to create an enclosure to an upstairs room that was being fitted out for a tenant. As we discussed the project with the client, we agreed that a sliding door would better serve the needs, as this doorway was off a narrow hallway and a normal door or a Murphy door would be create it's own problems by covering up light switches and other issues.
We found some beautiful Alder to make this sliding door and set to work building a door that would be a more rustic addition to a traditional home. We selected black iron hardware to work with the black iron door hardware throughout the house. We finished the door with a natural danish oil to highlight the beauty of the alder.
